About 19,000 internally displaced persons, IDPs, who escaped Boko Haram insurgency in North East Nigeria, are taking refuge at EYN Church in Jos, Plateau State capital.

Executive Director of the Centre for Caring, Empowerment and Peace Initiative, CCEPI, Dr. Rebecca Dali, disclosed this when Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate in the state, Senator Gyang Pwajok, visited IDPs at the church.

Executive Director of the Centre for Caring, Empowerment and Peace Initiative, CCEPI, Dr. Rebecca Dali, disclosed this when Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate in the state, Senator Gyang Pwajok, visited IDPs at the church.

Pwajok, who was visibly touched by the plight of the displaced persons, said the Nigerian experience and challenges required people to come together, despite ethnic or religious differences, and fight their common enemy.

The lawmaker, who represents Plateau North in the National Assembly, also said one of the best ways to address the plight of the displaced persons in the country was to eliminate insurgency through concerted effort.

The governorship hopeful, who thanked the Federal Government for working tirelessly towards providing permanent solution to the security challenge in the country and its timely response to the plight of IDPs, urged citizens to pray for the country’s security forces, for God to give them the wisdom and ability to fight insurgency.

The senator presented relief materials worth millions of naira to the displaced persons on behalf of the Federal Government through the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA.
