180 children grace Plateau for Junior golf open tournament

About 180 Kids golfers on Friday stormed Jos the Plateau state capital for a junior golf open tournament in the state sponsored by the Plateau state government and the Nigerian Golfers Federation. 

Speaking while teeing off the competition ,Gov Simon Lalong said his administration is determined to boost tourism and sporting activities in the state.

He said We have introduced Kid Golf Academy in Plateau state, so they can learn how to play golf, you may never know what they would become in the future. The kids would be the Tiger Woods of Nigeria,” he said.

When we introduced the kids golf academy ,I was impressed with the interest of children from Plateau and   urged parents to bring their children to the academy in order to learn the game and represent the state whenever the need may arise. 

 Lalong also said his determined would continue to 

promote sports in the state.

Also speaking at the occasion ,the Captain of the Rayfield Golf Club and former commissioner of Police CP Danjuma Auta  said Gov Lalong is doing well in promoting sports in the state.

He said we are delighted to host this competition and we really appreciate our governor Simon Lalong for his efforts at promoting golf in Plateau.

President of the Nigerian Golfers Association Brigadier Gen. Olagunsoye Oyinlola (rtd) who was represented by the Director of media and publicity of the NGF Taduis Yilmen  also commended Gov Lalong for hosting the competition ,Lalong has done well in promoting sports in Plateau state he added .

A participant of the tournament Master Wash El kana Malo who spoke to our correspondent said he was excited to participate in the tournament.
