On Tuesday June 25th 2022, a delegation from Plateau State Tourism Corporation led by the General manager, Hon. Chuwang Pwajok, received a brand-new Toyota Land cruiser 70 double cabin (Buffalo) pick-up truck for use at the Jos wildlife Park, from Plateau State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACreSAL).

Mr. Garba Gonkol, Plateau State Coordinator, ACReSAL, while handing over the vehicle stated that the Plateau State government had earlier asked ACReSAL to give priority to Jos Wildlife Park in her line up of intervention projects in the state.

He added that the Vehicle is the latest addition to ACReSAL’s initial interventions at the park, which includes:

i. Drilling of 4 boreholes and the provision of surface tanks as water sources throughout the park.

ii. Provision of motorcycles to ease movement and surveillance.

iii. Provision of maintenance equipment such as lawn mowers, cultivators, etc.

iv. Provision of consumables and cleaning agents for the cages to improve the living conditions of the animals.

v. Provision of kits for game guards and animal attendants.

vi. Provision of 20 solar street lights to enhance security.

Gonkol assured the delegation that more interventions are coming.

While heartily applauding the Government and ACReSAL for timely interventions at the facility, Hon. Chuwang Pwajok, who received the vehicle on behalf of the corporation, pointed out that the sad story of the sorry state of the Parpark rapidly changing for the better.

“The staff of the corporation and indeed the park will bear witness with me that the park has not received such kinds of interventions in the past. With the coming onboard of this administration and ACReSAL, Jos Wildlife Park has not remained the same again,” he said.

He gave ACReSAL an assurance that the corporation would closely monitor to make sure that the vehicle is used only for its intended purpose.

Pwajok subsequently informed journalists that the State Government is presently taking steps to tackle unlawful activities at the Jos Wildlife Park and enhance its security, through collaboration with appropriate security agencies within the state.

According to him, plans are in top gear for the facility to be surrounded by a 17 17-kilometernce.

The Plateau State Commissioner for Environment, Climate Change, Mineral Development, Hon. Peter Kanang-Gwom, who doubles as Chairman, State Steering Committee (SSC), did the handing over of the Vehicle to the Corporation.
