Former Plateau Commissioner, Hon. Alex Kwapnoe Defects to PDP, Expresses Satisfaction With Gov. Mutfwang’s Performance

Former Member Shendam Constituency at the Plateau State House of Assembly, one-time Commissioner of Urban Development Plateau State under the then administration of Sen. Jonah Jang’s and the Labour Party Senatorial Candidate for Plateau North, Hon. Alex Kwapnoe has joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), stating that the impressive performance of the Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Caleb and his politics of inclusivity informed his decision to pitch his tent with the Ruling Party in the State.

He made this known in a Press Conference on Tuesday 11th June, 2024 in Jos, the Plateau State Capital.

In his words “having sojourn through some political parties in Nigeria particularly the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Labour Party (LP), I have come to the conclusion that I return to my Mother Party, the PDP. This is as a result of the impressive disposition I have noticed coming from the Government of Plateau State under the leadership of Governor Caleb Mutfwang who is demonstrating adequate capacity to restore the lost glory of the State”He said seeing the wide acceptability being enjoyed by the present administration in the State, he made the decision to pitch his tent with the PDP to join hands to back the government of Barrister Caleb Mutfwang which he described as “Performing government” in order to move the State and take it to enviable height instead of the unnecessary political fights that characterised politics in Plateau State in the past.

“I am impressed by the Governor Caleb Mutfwang gallant fight for the People of Plateau State. He has prioritise the interest of the State above any other personal consideration. He has always stood for what is progressive for the State and that is an attestation of good leadership” he disclosed. He also stated that he is impressed with the zeal displayed by the Governor in completing abandoned projects especially the Road from Building Materials through National Open University Jos Study Centre to Bukuru Low-cost, The National Library to Abattoir Jos and his remarkable infrastructural interventions in the State.

He commended some of the achievements of the present government in the State which he said include the resettlement of displaced persons, transformation of the Transport sector, revamping the Tourism sector as witnessed in the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the rehabilitation of the Hill Station Hotel Jos and putting workable measures to tackle insecurity by reactivating Operation Rainbow. Others he highlighted include the provision of trailers of fertilizers for the 2024 farming seasons, payment of counterpart funds which led to the award of contracts for the construction of over 100 blocks of classrooms, giving attention to environmental sanitation, providing good governance, entrenching accountability and transparency in governance.

He urged the Citizens of Plateau State to give the present government in the State the necessary support to succeed saying since his assumption of Office, Governor Caleb Mutfwang has done exceptionally well and has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to do more.

He appreciated the parties he joined in the past, particularly the Labour Party and the “Obidients” for providing him the platform to contest the Plateau South Senatorial seat in the 2023 General Elections. He urged all his supporters to join him and the present government so that together they can build a better Plateau State.
