You will fail—Hassan’s group hits back at Kaze

By Dater, Pekop Dawu

The camp loyal to Hon. Chris Hassan in the Plateau state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has told Kaze that he will NEVER get close to the seat of the state chairmanship of the party. In a sharp reply to Hon. Bitrus Kaze the group conveyed their thoughts to him through a press statement entitled “RE: WHY PILATE IS JITTERY IN ” VICTORY “. Recall that Hon. Bitrus Kaze had earlier made a press release where he promised to to go to the extent of putting his chairmanship ambition on the line to ensure what he calls justice for all PDP members.

In its reply, the group which made an anonymous press release raised very weighty allegations to characterise the circumstances surrounding the resignation of Prof. Dimis Mailafia and Hon. Jacob Dashe from the caretaker committee that conducted the congress which led to the emergence of Hon. Chris Hassan as the chairman of the Plateau state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party.

Full text of the press statement reads thus:

RE: WHY PILATE IS JITTERY IN ” VICTORY “

  1. The National Working Committee forwarded to INEC a letter duly signed by the National Chairman and Secretary informing them of the new date for the State Congress election of Plateau State dated 20th August, 2020, and sent same communicated to the State Party Chairman as well as security agencies.
Why did you left until Friday 28th August, 2020, few hours to election before the purported withdrawal which was not officially communicated to the electoral Committee INEC and the security agencies?
  2. It was resolved at the Abuja meeting of 19th August, 2020, that all cases in Court be immediately withdrawn and why are you still in Court against the resolutions of the Governor Samuel Ortom led reconciliatory meeting?
  3. The resignation of Prof Dimis Mailafiya and Mr Jecob Dashe,, in the new CTC, have nothing to do with conscience, but a calculated attempt to discredit and undermine the Caretaker Committee and frustrated the State electoral Committee to conduct the State Congress election.
If the duo were people of conscience they wouldn’t have been involved in one form of scandal or another, eg Mailafiya, was accused of the mismanagement of the 2019 campaign funds, while Dashe, was amongst the renegades that illegally appointed themselves as State parrallel EXCO and have since been expelled from the Party.
  4. The judgement of the high Court regards LGA Congress of Jos North LGA , has been appeal giving the Party EXCO and delegates clean bill to participate in the State Congress election.
The screening committee cleared all aspirants and the list has been pasted at the State Party Secretariat and all aspirants issued with clearance certificate unless those aspirants who failed to collect their own.
No body has the power to appoint for you an agent and there was no any official communication from you to the electoral Committee of your withdrawal from the contest to doubt anyone with official tag as your agent.
Why would you be concerned about other people’s campaign program when you didn’t go round for campaign?
For your information Hon Chris Hassan campaign team went round the 17 LGA’s and met the EXCO and delegates, when you were busy challenging their election in Court and did not recognize them as EXCO.
  5. It is not true that reasons why we lost election in 2015, are same with 2019.
You have continued to accused Sen Jonah Jang, for the lost of the 2015, Governorship election and now mischievously accusinsing him for the lost of the 2019, election even when he was sideline in the scheme of things regards the election and has surprisingly refused to equally blame your godfathers instigating you who were in total control of the Party and campaign funds.
We have not forgotten about your antipathy activities against PDP/Sen GNS Pwajok, of blessed memory simply because you don’t want a Berom Man to continue as the Governor of Plateau State
And we have moved on from there and now with a competent personality Hon Chris Hassan, at the helm of affairs of State leadership of the Party, we will address the issues that caused us election especially the 2019 Governorship election disaster.
You said you will restore fairness and not factions, but have now been working to form a faction.
But like how Den Modu Sheriff failed to destroy the Party you will also failed.
And you will never get close to the seat of the State Chairmanship election without going through the ballot by the same EXCO you are fighting.

A lot is left to be seen in the coming days as party faithfuls battle for the soul of the party.
