The party chairman, Mr Latep Dabang in the company of party local government chairmen and stakeholders went ahead with the nomination while insisting that it was a directive from the national secretariat.
A communique signed by the chairman was released at the end of the meeting stating that Kwande was appointed after careful deliberation and that his choice was accepted by members in attendance.
It would be recalled that there was a disagreement between party members when the last met to nominate board members. Angry members locked the party secretariat and prevented party officials who relocated to the former secretariat of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) to hold the meeting.
