Plateau state police command has placed a ban on all football viewing centres in the state during the 2014 world cup for security reasons. The directive was issued by the police in a press release in Jos the state capital.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dominic Esin stated that it was a precautionary measure aimed at forestalling any impending attack on viewing centres by persons or groups intending to foment trouble that may lead to loss of lives and properties. He also said that the measure will help in securing an atmosphere of peace and security in the state.
