Who do you choose to Honor by Aliyu A. John P.hD

In today’s Nigeria, the quest for unity and cohesion between between Nigerians has become a challenge as a result of unresolved issues that have occured in Nigeria’s History. This has affected interactions between and within nigerians, as a result of ethnic and religious diversity; columnating into misunderstandings which have further fueled division along these fault lines.

However, there seem to changes in the approach of many in the way and manner nigerians interact with each other across despite these ethnoreligious diversities. One person who has sufficiently breached this gap is the Eyewei (V) of Azzuzuama, Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa State, His Royal Highness Dr Selky Kile Torughedi (a.k.a General Young Shall Grow).

His sterling leadership has attracted admiration from across ethno-religious divides that transverse Nigeria and even across Europe, through his humanitarian interventions via the Young Shall Grow Dynamic Empowerment Foundation which is touching lives across nigerians irrespective of ethnic or religious backgrounds. No wonder, Dr Aliyu A. John writes his heart out in honor of HRH Dr Selky Kile Torughedi.

“AN EPISTLE OF GRATITUDE TO MY BOSS AND BENEFACTOR, HRH KING DR. SELKY KILE TORUGHEDI, EYEWEI 5TH, THE AMANANAWEI OF AZUZUAMA KINGDOM, SOUTHERN IJAW LGA, BAYELSA STATE.”

“If I have seen farther, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants”, these words of Isaac Newton reverberates in my head each time I reflect on my life’s trajectory, reminding me of the giant whose shoulders have carried me untiringly since God connected my path to his.”

“Your Royal Highness; my father, mentor and boss, sir, I have searched for the right vocabularies to convey my heartfelt gratitude to you but no word is commensurate to the truest feelings and depth of gratitude that my heart holds for you, especially for your fatherly role which has propelled me to heights I never imagined in my life.”

“As your privileged protege, I can attest that your exceptionally generous lifestyle has raised the hope of thousands, raising heroes from zero and restoring hope to the hopeless; your humane and thorough magnificence has lit the candle of innumerable people over the years which I’m humbly privileged to be part of.”

“Your Royal Highness, sir, I can never ever thank you enough for your love, both in cash and kind; in all honesty, I would exhaust whole pages of a book if I decide to translate into writing the level of ecstasy and the corresponding thankfulness that my heart houses towards you – I’m indeed short of words.”

“But of course, I take lessons from the words of the legendary Nigerian writer, Chinua Achebe who said “Those whose palm-kernel were cracked for them by the benevolent spirit should not forget to be humble – Sir, your kind gestures has not only spurred me to greater heights but have thought me humbling lessons of love and kindness beyond all forms of sentiment towards humanity which would from henceforth be the hallmark of my existence too.”

“With total humility, I acknowledge the efforts you have deliberately invested into making me a cosmopolitan academician of a fast-growing repute, I’m forever indebted to you, sir.”

“My family and I are indeed grateful to you, sir. Thank you for being a light to our world. May God’s continued grace, protection and unceasing prosperity be your family’s heritage now and always (Amen).”

“Sincere gratitude to the entire family of the Young Shall Grow Dynamic Empowerment Foundation, and all the beneficiaries who have continue to identify with HRH Dr Selky Kile Torughedi for all he has done in touching their lives, that of their family and humanity by extension”.
