President of the Church of Christ in Nations,Rev.Dachollom Datiri on Tuesday warned the federal and the Plateau State Government against abandoning the establishment of mobile police barracks in Barkin Ladi Council Area of the state.
The cleric said the establishment of the project was critical to ending attacks by gunmen in the council area and other parts of the state
Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong had in October 2018 received a certificate for the establishment of a Police Mobile Squadron unit in Gashish District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state where over 200 people were killed in June 2018.
The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Yakubu Dati, had confirmed that the certificate was presented by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Operations, Habila Joshak, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris at the Police Headquarters in Abuja for the barracks to be established in the area to forestall further attacks on the people
COCIN President who spoke on the state of the nation during the 99th Annual General Council Meeting of the church in Jos on Tuesday expressed regrets that since the idea was initiated,nothing has been done to bring it to reality
The cleric noted that it is not uncommon to hear of ambushes and people killed or wounded in Plateau communities and other parts of the country which must not be allowed to continue
Rev. Datiri also lamented the plight of those displaced as a result of the crisis and reminded government that it is their responsibility to provide accommodation and relief materials to enable them reintergrate back into the society
