ViewPointNigeria has issued a word of caution to communities in Bassa LGA and Jos North (specifically Dong, Rukku etc) to be watchful as the likelihood of attacks range between high to very severe. Meaning, attacks are very likely to happen in the next coming weeks or months.

The warning is coming at the backdrop of ViewPointNigeria’s analyses of the of last week’s events where 319 cattle were alleged to have been killed on Tuesday 30th April 2019, with two cattle rearers Mubarak Yakubu and Shehu Saidu declared missing.

Already, 2 people have already been killed in Maiyanga village of Bassa LGA and another 2 in Dong village of Jos North in Plateau in the last 2 days as reprisal. As such, given past antecedents of what was witnessed in 2016, 2017 and 2018 where similar allegations have led to multiple bloodshed, ViewPointNigeria’s analysts caution strongly that attacks may be imminent –as such all citizens should tread carefully.

It is common knowledge that ViewPointNigeria has been reporting and recording all killings in Plateau since 2012 and as such knows the signs when something sinister is about to happen –having witness this cycle many times.

The “ViewPointNigeria database” of attacks, which dates back to 2012 covers all attacks which have happened on the Plateau, including names of the dead, ages, sex, location of attacks etc

ViewPointNigeria by this warning advises community leaders in Bassa LGA to immediately kick start dialogue/consultations as a means of averting the ugly situation.
