News available to ViewPointNigeria indicates that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) intercepted a vehicle loaded with 868 kilograms of psychotropic substance in Shendam Local Government Area in Plateau State.

The substance which was packaged in black nylon bags is estimated around N1 million. The driver was transporting the packages from Onisha to Gombe.

During a news conference in Jos, the Commander of NDLEA, Ibrahim Braji disclosed that the driver of the vehicle denied having knowledge of the goods he was carrying upon interrogation.

The Commander said the registration number of the vehicle is QAP 316 XA.

According to Mr. Braji, the driver was in company of another man who claimed that he didn’t have any idea of what the driver had in his truck. He said the suspects would be charged to court immediately.

Mr. Braji appealed to the public to cooperate with the agency by giving useful information pertaining drug trafficking to help in curbing the sale, circulation and consumption of dangerous drugs in the country.
