As part of its series of inaugural lectures, today, at the University of Jos multipurpose hall, professor Innocent A.O Ujah (mni) identified bureaucracy, poor resource management in the healthcare system, industrial action, Boko Haram insurgency in the north of Nigeria and kidnappings in the south of Nigeria as cardinal factors which affected the achievement of the millennium development goals.
The lecture titled: Navigating landmines: The travails of motherhood in Nigeria, was attended by members of the academia and the town, while x-raying the travails of womanhood in Nigeria the erudite professor advocated the re- introduction of community midwives, expansion and strengthening of National Blood Transfusion service , man power development, morning review meetings in all departments of O&G in the country, improvement in road and power infrastructure, compulsory health insurance Scheme (NHIS) , full implementation of National health act 2014, establishment of national blood bank for health, prevention of industrial crises , strengthening family planning and periodic evaluation of maternal deaths among many
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, appreciated the Distinguish Guest lecturer for the mentoring of academics in the department of obstetrics & Gynecology, college of medical sciences.
The distinguish professor Ujah has about 40 years of service as a consultant obstetrician and gynaecology surgeon, mentoring many academics in the field who are now professors.
