Every graduate have a spectacular story about the institutions he or she attends, hence, giving back to one’s Alma-Ata is not just a duty but a call in appreciation for a system that shape one’s future. This was the story of a distinguish graduate of the University of Jos, Dr. John Kennedy opara who decided to renovate one of the popular lecture hall in the University
Viewpointnigeria reporters gathers that the A1 hall is not just an ordinary lecture hall as all who pass through Unijos have different experience about the iconic hall. Speaking on the relevance of the project the Nat. president of University of Jos Alumni Association Mr Idiris Yakubu comment that “A1 hall comes with many memories, we remember the GST classes and the nostalgia of other courses…. “
The Director of Alumni Relations, Mr Samuel Mwansat also lent his voice thus “Today we are witnessing the renovation of one of the famous lecture halls in the University of Jos, virtually everyone who pass through this university had one or two experience to recall on this iconic hall that defy many attempts for renovations over the years”
A former minister, prof. owoliri while recounting the sweet memories of the hall added that since 1980 when she begins to work with the department of zoology the “A1 hall is a significant place for all of us, for some students it is a major class. Again, on Sundays it is a worship centre for us, thank you for reminding us of our own dear A1 hall…”
The ceremony was witnessed by the 13th governing council chairman and members, former governor of plateau state Da Jonah Jang, former VC prof. Hayward B. Mafuyai, Unijos alumni exco and members, students leaders and members of the general public.Different speakers appreciate the initiative by the distinguish alumnus. The management of University of Jos, did not fail to appreciate the initiative while calling on other graduates to see a reason by giving back to the system. The hall is now renamed John Kennedy A1 Lecture Hall.
