Palpable tension has been reported in parts of Kanam LGA over the rumoured cancellation of last Saturday’s APC councillor-ship primaries.
It would be recalled that the party’s councillorship primaries, conducted to produce candidates for the February 2018 local government elections, had been marred by complaints and objections, with many claiming that several candidates were imposed on the people.
Yesterday evening, there were rumours that the Kanam primaries were slated for a repeat, even though the names of the winning candidates had already been forwarded to the party head quarters in Jos.
However, when key chieftains of the APC who hail from the locality were contacted, e.g., the Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mr. Saleh Yipmong, the immediate past Deputy Speaker, Yusuf Gagdi, and a party chieftain, Amos Gizo, they insisted that the elections were relatively fair and that there would be no repeat of the exercise and that all hands are on deck for the chairmanship primaries on Saturday 18th November.
