His Excellency Distinguished Senator Ignatius Longjan’s demise and home going has exited from our clime a refined elder statesman, a man of peace who cultivated a culture of patience, resilience and honesty in conduct and candor.

This testimony is derived first hand from the privilege of my working as Permanent Secretary for eight years when he served as Chief of Staff and later as Deputy Governor from 2007-2011 & 2011-2015 respectively with Dist. Excellency Senator Jonah Jang as Governor. Presently, privileged as a colleague Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, from June 2019 to date.

I commiserate with his immediate family, the government and people of Plateau State, the President of the Senate, Senators and members of the National Assembly in mourning his departure.

I am however consoled by the fact that he distinguished himself in the service of his fatherland as a seasoned carrier officer in Nigerian Foreign Consular Services, the governance of Plateau State and as Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

His legacies shall endure even as we pray for his soul to rest in peace, amen.
