Transition com’ttee chairman of B’Ladi accused of attempting to undertake voter fraud

With preparations for the forth coming local government elections in overdrive, the transition committee chairman of Barkin Ladi LGA has come under fire for allegedly issuing a directive to people seeking employment to surrender their voters card as a pre-requisite for being offered employment.

Our correspondent reports that the directive was issued on 8th September 2017 at the Local Government Education Authority Office complex in Barkin Ladi.

Expressing dis-satisfaction with the directive, a concerned citizen, Mr Gyang Adamu Choji said such directives are illegal, undemocratic and unpalatable. He asked the chairman to immediately rescind such directive or else will face the brunt of the law.

Below are excerpts of the communique issued by Mr. Gyang Adamu Choji:

———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

The good people of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area have registered their dis-pleasures and dissatisfactions with the Transition Committee Chairman of Barkin Ladi, Hon. Dickson Chollom who directed women and youths of the Local Government to submit their Voters’ Cards and register as APC Members which will be used to secure them Appointments which they will be paid N3,000 per Month.

Hon. Dickson Chollom gave this directive today 8th September, 2017 at Barkin Ladi Local Education Authority Office Complex in which he said only those who submit their Voters’ Cards as well as get APC Membership Cards will be issued appointment letters.

The Transition Committee Chairman, Hon. Dickson asked those to be assisted with employment to go to their various Wards to register as APC members aside surrendering their voters’ cards.

This is to disenfranchise them during the forthcoming Local Government elections with the plans to use the voters’ cards to vote candidates of his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The people also learnt that this illegal act is to be done simultaneously across the Local Government Areas in Plateau State and are calling on all people not to give their voters’ cards to anyone.

We therefore call on religious, traditional and political leaders to sensitize their followers and people not to fall victims of this illegal act which is punishable by law.

Pls pass this information and ensure it gets to interested persons, groups and political parties.

Thanks and God bless
