The incident has been confirmed to journalist in Jos on Monday, by the spokesperson of the Special Taskforce (STF) Captain Ikedichi Iweha. He said the taskforce had impounded a vehicle which was transporting arms and that investigations were already under way.

Our investigations reveal that the arms were transported in a large trailer vehicle and was intercepted by security forces who suspected foul play upon sighting the vehicle.

According to a witness, the driver of the vehicle refused to stop for regular v ehicle searches. He tried to evade the security agents by forcing his way through their barricades and in the process hit an obstacle which caused the vehicle to have an accident –leading to his arrest.

When the police spokesperson (Abuh Emmanuel) was contacted about the issue, he said he would not comment on the matter as he was yet to get details from this officers.
At the time of filing this report, the area where the vehicle broke down was cordoned off by soldiers.
