Total PLC provides HIV testing service in Jos

About 12,000 residents of Jos have benefited from a HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Preventive Education project, an initiative of Total companies in Nigeria and its partners, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Business Coalition Against AIDS (NIBUCAA) Gbenga Alabi has said.

Alabi said yesterday at the launch of the project in Plateau State that the beneficiaries include 7,621 males and 4,600 females while 22 individuals from Total service station as well as staff of Jos North and Jos South have been trained to serve as peer educators.

Plateau State is the 22nd state to benefit from the project.

The Managing Directors of Total Nigeria PLC Jean- Philippe Torres and Total Upstream Nig. Ltd, Nicolas Terraz, said the project involves the training of peer educators who will create awareness on the use of selected total service stations and public places as centres for free HIV/AIDS voluntary counselling and testing.
