The Profound Stillness of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda

D.M Long’gul writes in response to a Facebook post.

In the current political landscape of the plateau, there is an overwhelming cacophony of voices. The origins of this disturbance are not distant; they can be traced back to the gubernatorial elections of Plateau State. Two formidable contenders emerged, initially exhibiting a brotherly camaraderie and a deep understanding of one another. The options were clear: either the influential GOSA Family or the influential COCIN factor. However, as is often the case with political maneuverings, not everything is readily comprehensible. The brotherly contest soon transformed into a complex and intricate “game of thrones.” One candidate was unjustly vilified, attacked, and labeled as a threat to the heritage of “Plateau” and even likened to the “anti-Christ.” These accusations were baseless, as the candidate’s credentials and lineage in service to the Lord’s vineyard shone brightly, devoid of any ambiguity or doubt.

In this fascinating tale, the distinguished professor exudes an aura of tranquility, never allowing a single word to escape his lips that could incite anger or insult. Instead, he perpetually adorns his countenance with a gentle smile. The most astonishing revelation is my analysis of his posts on the celestial platform known as the blue application, or in simpler terms, Facebook. It is here that 80% of his interests are dedicated to the beautiful game of football, while 10% consists of motivational speeches from esteemed leaders of thought or his own personal words of encouragement bestowed upon others. The remaining 10% encompasses a medley of random wishes and updates on his political endeavors. Remarkably, even in this age of digital technology where countless individuals resort to social media as a means to cast aspersions and engage in heated debates with political pundits, this esteemed professor never once seized the opportunity to partake in such activities. Instead, he remains poised and composed, to such an extent that many now yearn for him to break his silence. But to whom would he speak?

The noble demonstration of character displayed by professor Nentawe brings to mind the revered Indian leader of thought, Jawaharlal Nehru, and his profound query, “To what am I an heir?” In response, he declared that he was an heir to the collective achievements of humanity spanning tens of thousands of years, encompassing all the thoughts, emotions, sufferings, and triumphs that have come to pass. As the clamor of political discourse grows louder, accompanied by fervent protests on the streets, the posture, and actions of Nentawe Yilwatda serve as a poignant reminder that his example must be cherished and upheld in the pursuit of our democratic and secular values. In his own wise words, “No life is worthy of my aspirations.” Therefore, let us remain calm, for it is only a matter of time before the peacemakers are etched into the annals of history, forever remembered by future generations.
