The killing of young Plateau indigenes in Anambra state receive more condemnations

Condemnations have continued to pour in from various quarters as the government and people of Plateau state continue to mourn the killing of young Plateau indigenes who were in far away Anambra state and usefully contributing to add value to life and humanity, especially Nigeria’s socio-political and economic development before they met their untimely death in the hands of evil men and non state actors who don’t mean well for the country. The latest of such condemnations came from the Plateau Initiative for the Development and Advancement of the Natives (PIDAN), Central Zone.

In a press statement signed by Dr. Katkukah Danjuma Gokum, the Zonal Secretary of the organization and made available to our correspondent, PIDAN Central Zone condemns in very strong terms the unjustifiable act describing it as dastardly and inhuman. PIDAN also described the killings as evil and unacceptable and swiftly called on the Anambra state government to immediately investigate the matter and bring perpetrators to book.

The full text of the press statement reads thus:

“PLATEAU INITIATIVE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND ADVANCEMENT OF THE NATIVES ( PIDAN) CENTRAL ZONE CONDEMNS IN STRONG TERMS THE KILLING OF PLATEAU INDIGENES IN ANAMBRA STATE.

We commiserate with the Government of Plateau State, Kanam Local Government Council, entire Kanam people and the immediate families of those who were unjustifiably killed in ANAMBRA State. We are touched by this dastardly act and inhumanity to life.

We wonder why life that is precious is no longer valued and is eliminated at will in our contemporary society. This is not acceptable and we call on the ANAMBRA State Government to investigate the matter and bring the Perpetrators to book as nothing under the Sun is hidden. We believe that our Country is not lawless and we demand justice to serve as a deterrent to others and for peace and cordial co-existence.

Dr. Katkukah Danjuma Gokum The Zonal Secretary.”

It would be recalled that five young Plateau citizens were murdered in cold blood while three were severely injured in Anambra state on Thursday 24th October, 2024. These were people with a bright and promising future and already contributing to national socio-political and economic development, diligently serving the nation out there and making their immediate families and Plateau state proud but were cut short in their prime by men of the underworld. It is hoped that the Nigerian government and the government of Anambra state will take steps to give justice to the affected families and to ensure that crime and evil is fought and crushed completely to enable every Nigerian citizen live peacefully in any part of the country while contributing to national growth and development.
