“The Bloodshed Must Stop”: Chief Yilchini Jan Bida Condemns Deadly Angwan Rukuba AttackJOS, NIGERIA
Following a night of terror in Plateau State, prominent leader Chief Yilchini Jan Bida has issued a scathing condemnation of the violent attack on innocent citizens in the Angwan Rukuba area of Jos North.
The incident, which occurred on the evening of Sunday, March 29, 2026, involved suspected terrorists opening sporadic fire on unsuspecting passers-by before fleeing the scene.
The attack has left the community in a state of shock and mourning, with the exact number of casualties still being determined.
“Cowardly and Reprehensible”In a strongly worded statement released early Monday, Chief Bida described the assault as a “tragic assault on peace, human dignity, and the sanctity of life.””
Such cowardly acts are not only reprehensible but wholly unacceptable in any civilized society,” Bida stated. “Enough is enough. The bloodshed must stop, as no one deserves to die in such an unprovoked and gruesome way.”
Expressing deep concern over the recurring nature of such violence, Chief Bida outlined three critical mandates for security agencies to address the immediate crisis:
Swift Apprehension: Track down and arrest the perpetrators to ensure they face justice.Restoration of Order: Deploy personnel to restore calm and public confidence in Jos North.
Proactive Intelligence: Intensify surveillance and intelligence gathering to prevent future “soft target” attacks.
Chief Bida urged residents, youth groups, and community leaders to remain calm and avoid the temptation of reprisal attacks, which he warned would only serve to escalate the cycle of violence. He emphasized that the protection of lives must be a “non-negotiable priority” for the government.
“I stand in solidarity with the people of Jos North,” Bida concluded. “My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families during this distressing time.“
