As the Sallah celebration was under way in different mosques and areas around the city of Jos, the peace and tranquility was somewhat ruptured at the old airport junction mosque when two rival gangs engaged each other in fisticuffs. The disturbance, led to security forces who were at the mosque shooting numerous times to dispell the attack which was becoming a free-for-all.

Viewpointnigeria gathers that the trouble emanated from two rival gangs from Anglo Jos and Jos Township respectively. At the time of filing the report, it was unclear why the engaged each other so ferociously, but it was claim it may not be unrelated to turf wars between the gangs.

Other worshippers at the Mosque though were peaceful and observed their prayers solemnly without rancour.

At the time of filing in this report, the situation was already brought under control and normalcy restored.
