Team GNS Pwajok have emerge winners of the Ogboro Polo One-day Championship held at the Jos Polo Field, the Plateau State Capital.
The Championship was organized by a renowned Polo player, Hon. Yusuf Umaru Dauda in honour of, Alhaji Ibrahim Ogboro who was recently re-elected for the third term as President of Nigeria Polo Federation (NPF).

The Championship was organized by a renowned Polo player, Hon. Yusuf Umaru Dauda in honour of, Alhaji Ibrahim Ogboro who was recently re-elected for the third term as President of Nigeria Polo Federation (NPF).
The two teams that engage each other were Team GNS and Team Ogboro, with the former emerging victorious.
On why the Championship was organized, Dauda said, “The NPF President has been very helpful to the entire Jos Polo Club, because without his assistance, this club would not have been able to participate in any major tournament.
“I sponsored this tournament because of the financial assistance he has been rendering to Jos Polo club and by doing so is to honour him, because is my mentor and like a father to me and we wish he will remain there as the life President of NPF.
When asked on why they chose Sen. Gyang Pwajok as the other team, being a PDP gubernatorial candidate in the State, Dauda who is an APC Chieftain in the State, said the Pwajok’s team was sponsored by Hon. Aminu Usman, who is a PDP Chieftain in Jos North and a close ally of Sen. Pwajok.
He maintained that, sport is a unifying factor, “despite the fact that we are from different political affiliation, we socialize together.
Also speaking, Mr. Tunde Olawoye, who spoke on behalf of the NPF President, Alh. Ibrahim Ogboro, said he has been playing Polo for the past 35 years lamented that the Polo tournament billed for December, 2014, could not hold because security reports from security agencies and they had to adhere to it.
“But because of the clamour for the game by fans, we had to play this match in honour of our President”. He stressed.
