News available to ViewPointNigeria indicates that the second civilian governor of Plateau State, Mr. Fidelis Tapgun, has refuted a statement, which quoted him to have said he regrets facilitating Lalong’s election.
Tapgun, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, strongly supported Lalong who contested under the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2015 general elections.
The former governor told newsmen in Jos that what he said at the inauguration of the PDP reconciliation committee was misinterpreted and quoted out of context.
He pointed out that what he said was that he apologised to his supporters for voting against PDP, which he said was as a result of the exigencies of the time.
Tapgun said, “What I said was that we all have sinned and we need forgiveness for voting against our party. At no time in that occasion did anybody mention Lalong or APC.
He said, “Lalong is my son and I was largely responsible for bringing him to power.
For goodness sake, if I have any opinion about his performance, I will simply walk up to him and tell him where he is derailing.”
