The suspect, said to be in his 30s was confronted by security men and students after they noticed him behaving shifty and suspiciously. On being asked why he was there, he claimed to be on a casual visit to the area. The security men and students then asked him to open the contents of his bag -a request which he promptly refused.
He was then severely beated by students and taken over to the security office. When the bag was forced open, it was said to contain several suspicious looking paraphenalia and some other items which included food. It was not immediately clear if the paraphenalia could be used for committing datardly acts, but the University authorities appear not to be taking the issue lightly, as they have cordoned several areas while investigation continues.
At the time of filing this report, several wards, lecturers and students are said to have vacated the campus for fear of the unknown. But it appears that with the numerous bombings in Jos, people are becoming very vigilant to suspicious movements.
