The newly inaugurated Hon Commissioner, Federal Character Commission, FCC from Plateau State Mr Stephen Jings has formally taken over the Jos office of the Commission.

In a brief but colourful ceremony conducted at the headquarters of the Federal Character Commission located along Rayfield/Diye Zarmaganda road Stephen Jings described the welcome he received from the staff as assurance to give him the required support in playing a key role on the mandates given them by President Muhammadu Buhari to perform.

He said having resumed work already in Abuja,he had to also get back to his home state where another of his office is located as that will form the stage where issues of Plateau interest are gathered before moved to Abuja for further action.

Jings said already the Commissioners from the various states have gathered preliminary issues pending and emerging towards proffering short,medium and long term solutions adding that he had already equipped himself with some of those pressing challenges faced in terms of equitable distribution and representation across board.

The new Federal Character Commissioner described the current structure of staff in the office as a true representation of some of the mandates of the office considering how the spread is across all divides.

Jings thanked God almighty for the privilege and saluted Governor Simon Lalong for his nomination and prayers by Plateau people for him to succeed assuring that the state will not be disappointed God willing.

He promised to intimate Government on the sorry state of the only road that leads to the commission’s office which is in need of a quick intervention so workers and Plateau people could access the place easily and lodge complaints.

Earlier while receiving the Hon Commissioner, Acting State Coordinator of the Commission, Gotom Dakup said the coming of Stephen Jings has put to rest the gap that had been there with the absence of a substantive Commissioner for two years.

He assured of staff support and willingness to work with the new Commissioner for the overall good of the state.

The Commissioner was later taken round the offices to see the nature of things as well as the only road network leading to the office.
