ViewPointNigeria reports on the ensuing stand-off/debacle between the Federal Government and the Plateau State Government, in respect of the old JUTH hospital by Terminus, Jos.

The reports which reached us this morning suggested that staff of JUTH turned up to work this week and found that “quit notice” had been posted in strategic places within the premises, stipulating that the entire staff of the institution vacate the premises within a week.
This development was said to have irked the staff and led to a situation of confusion and immense concern because vital medical services are still being administered from this old JUTH site and the new site at Lamingo could not accommodate the entire staff.

The reports which reached us this morning suggests that staff of JUTH turned up to work this week and found that “quit notice” had been posted in strategic places within the premises, stipulating that the entire staff of the institution vacate the premises within a week.
This development was said to have irked the staff and led to a situation of confusion and immense concern because vital medical services are still being administered from this old JUTH site and the new site at Lamingo could not accommodate the entire staff.

It would be recalled that the Jos University Teaching Hospital, in the last few years moved most of its functions to its Lamingo permanent site from where it currently operates. However, a few fringe departments were said to still be resident at the old campus because of a lack of space in the main campus and therefore requiring them to still use parts of the old site at Terminus –the services still at the old site, which are now under the expulsion threat include : Family Medicine, Community medicine and other vital administrative and clerical functions. This debacle is said to have led to a state of uncertainty in the campus, where patients were not being attended to –thereby putting their lives at risk.

At the time of filing this report, ViewPointNigeria was still trying making contact with the current Chief Medical Director of JUTH and the State commissioner of Health to speak to them to get more clarity on the matter.
