SON Certifies Shangsat Premium Rice, Says It Meets Quality Standard.
Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has presented a Product Identification Scheme certificate to a Jos based Shangsat made in Nigeria Premium Rice production company. It would be recalled that
the company started preliminary operations in 2018 with production of rice, the company is located at rayfield zarmaganda road in Jossouth plateau state, the high profile of Shangsat premium Rice has earned them a reputation in production of high quality rice, the certification comes against the backdrop of meeting all required standards of rice production, which includes a standard laboratory with good machines and hygiene and production processes.
Shangsat premium rice comes in 3 stages, 50KG, 25KG and 10KG, and they also do complementary packages and customize packages based on request.
In light of meeting the standard of of rice production the state coordinator of SON in plateau state, Engr. Kenneth Shawo, presented Shangsat premium Rice PIS certificate and says is a precursor and valid for one year, which is a step that most be followed he said, according to Engr. Kenneth “PIS is to ensure that the product meets the required standard.
When a product meets a required standard it means it is safe for consumption,” and exportation meaning it has certifies all the safety measures, “According to him, PIS is a precursor to MANCAP,
which is a mandatory product certification scheme to
ensure that producers deliver quality service.
Engr. Shawo said the organisation would continue to undertake periodic factory inspections, sampling and laboratory testing of products following the certification to ensure that Shangsat premium rice production continue to meet the standard, and with this measures taken by SON the public should be rest assured that the product is safe for consumption., “This is to ensure that the
products certified today continue to meet the requirements of the relevant standards that have earned your establishments these certifications.
“The products are to be revalidated periodically and it is important that you note that the certificate issued can be withdrawn or suspended if the products fail to meet the minimum requirements,”
Engr Kenneth further added that exercise goes for both revalidating products and newly certified products, adding that the certification enhances business growth and maximisation, as well as the production of excellent quality products and healthy competition. Engr. Shawo revealed that to
meet micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) at their point of standard, he also said SON had initiated a scheme known as the SON Product Identification Scheme (SONPIS). The chief executive officer of Shangsat premium rice production company Mr Caring Simon, while responding, said the rice they produce is better than imported rice. “According to him, the beauty is that their rice is grown, produced and packaged in Jos. “People think that rice has to be imported to remain foreign, without knowing that we can produce the standard of foreign rice in Jos, he also said inline with the standard of production of rice that meets international standard Shangsat premium rice has gone through various stages and equipped to produce high quality rice just like foreign rice, he said Shangsat premium rice is currently in high demand in the market because of its quality and is cheaper than foreign rice with same quality, people who have tested Shangsat premium rice will always ask for it, Shangsat is the finest Nigerian rice in the market, because we buy high quality rice apart of our rice farm production because of its high demand,”
