Users of smartphones are poised to face the challenge of data slowdown as more people acquire the device.  The infrastructure set up by operators will not be able to cope with the recent surge in demand for data by users. Smartphone owners use a lot more data than the normal phone users and this will lead to a massive increase over the next three to five years in wireless traffic.

There could be network congestion accompanied by inability to connect, drop calls and difficulty in connecting to the internet.  Most operators are deploying more of their infrastructure to the rural areas because they target increased network coverage while neglecting the problems associated with increased data usage.
