Simput Dafup freed by DSS, after 3 weeks detention on charges of converting girl to Christianity

Information trickling in indicates that Simput Dafup –the gentleman arrested by the DSS for allegedly converting a young Muslim girl (Nabila Umar Sanda Galadima – daughter of a renowned cleric) to Christianity has secured his release.

Along with his friend, Daniel Hassan –the duo were arrested on 11th January 2018, when the DSS swooped on their locality –blocking roads, shutting down the neighbourhood and assaulting residents and in a bid to locate and arrest them.

On locating them, both were arrested and taken to the DSS office in Jos and then ultimately transferred to Abuja, where they were being held on charges of forceful conversion.

Since Simput and Daniel’s arrest, the leadership of CAN, working concertedly with the ECWA president Reverend Jeremiah Gado put pressure on DSS until their release yesterday 27th January.

Arriving Jos yesterday, Simput and Daniel were in great spirit and happy to be re-united with their families, who had suffered severe trauma since their arrest. The duos were in the company of Rev. Dr Soja Bewarang – CAN Chairman of Plateau State having been released earlier to Rev. Yakubu Pam, the CAN Northern Chairman who was one of the sureties for his bail.

Already, the friends and well-wishers had already gone to court and instituted a legal case before the Jos Federal High Court in respect of this. This case (filed by Barr. Francis Kwede) is slated for hearing in the coming weeks in Jos.

They duo were taken to the ECWA head quarters and prayers said for them.
