Hon. Lalong was voted in a keenly contested voting that went deep into last night, and emerged victorious, beating several candidates, including the likes of Solomon Dalung (a staunch critic of the Government and Human rights activist), Prof. Emmanuel Garba and a raft of other candidates.

This development means Plateau is a state to watch in the forth coming elections, because the APC appear to be exploiting the discontent within the PDP by sticking to the “informal” zoning arrangement which most of Plateau seem to want. ViewPointNigeria’s analysts believe that the Plateau Gubernatorial race would be a keenly contested one -seeing as two good canddates have been presented.

Now all eyes are on PDP’s Gubernatorial primaries slated for Monday 8th December to see who would emerge. The two heavy weights are – the highly intellectual G N S Pwajok (who hails from the Northern zone) and on the other hand is the very personable and self assured Amb. Ignatius longjan who hails from the Southern zone. All indications point to the fact that the race would be between these two once amiable colleagues who both served under Gov. Jonah Jang.

Other candidates who may upset the dynamics include – the very vibrant Senator Victor Lar (who has consistently demonstrated his pedegree in politics), Engr. Jimmy Cheto and a host of others.
