Rumours are currently pervading the Nigeria cyberspace about the demise of the 2nd republic president Alh. Shehu Shagari. He was said to have passed on this afternoon at an undisclosed location in Germany –where he was receiving treatment.

Following the break-out of the news on social media this evening, other sources debunking the rumour have equally surfaced. One of such was said to have been from his personal assistant, Dr. Atiku Nuhu Koko who was said to have spoken to the Nigerian tribune, debunking the insinuations.

It would be recalled that on February 25th 2015, he celebrated his 90th birthday –at a well attended event, featuring most past presidents and top government functionaries.
