Unconfirmed reports reaching the ViewPointNigeria news desks suggests than another Plateau elder, Senator John Wash Pam may have died this morning of a yet to be disclosed illness in Jos. 

The late senator who was the deputy senate president in the second republic, was one of the aspirants who contested to fill the vacuum created by the demise of late senator Damtong under the auspices of PDP, but lost to the incumbent GNS Pwajok.

Until the time of his untimely death, Senator John Washpam remained an active politician who was involved in grassroot mobilization in a variety of capacities.

His son, Rondong Wash Pam is an active contributor in many Plateau online groups and our condolences go out to him and his family.

Unconfirmed reports reaching the ViewPointNigeria news desks suggests than another Plateau elder, Senator John Wash Pam (CON) may have died this morning of a yet to be disclosed illness in Jos. 

The late senator was the deputy senate president in the second republic, when Shagari was president, but was deposed along with the entire democratic structures, when the military Government of Muhammadu Buhari took over power in 1983.

Following that stint, he played active politics in Plateau state, representing the state in several boards and paratatals. His latest political activity was when he aspired to fill the vacuum created by the demise of late senator Damtong under the auspices of PDP, but lost in the primaries to the incumbent GNS Pwajok.

Prior to that, he was one of the opposition politicians in the then APP party -a party in which he remained loyal to, until he was later convinced to  defact to PDP.

Until the time of his untimely death, Senator John Washpam remained an active politician who was involved in grassroot mobilization in a variety of capacities. He was a very modest family man whom many regard as an example of veteran politicians who did not amasse massive amounts of wealth at the expense of their citizens.
