At approximately 10:30am at the hearing today at the Jos High Court, the application was accepted for hearing by the presiding judge, Justice Daniel Longji.
Subsequently, the charges of misappropriation etc were read to Senator Jonah Jang and chief cashier Mr Yusuf Pam by the prosecution team (led Rotimi Jacobs) but both pled not guilty to all 12 count charges levelled against them.
Lead counsel to Senator Jonah Jang and Yusuf Pam (Robert Clarke), filed two applications for bail on the premise of self-recognition, but the lead prosecuting counsel (Rotimi Jacobs), argued against bail, saying there was the risk of witness intimidation if bail is granted.
In the end, the decision on bail was deferred to next Wednesday when it shall come up for hearing again, in the meantime police were directed to remand the Senator in prison until then.
