The former Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Istifanus Caleb Mwansat has condemned in the strongest possible terms the spate of killings by yet to be identified gun men in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau state. In a message made available to ViewPoint Nigeria through his personal assistant on media Satmak Dapar, Mwansat said, “The wanton destruction of properties and killing of innocent people is one tragedy too many. It’s uncalled for and highly condemnable. I sincerely sympathize with the people of Irigwe and wish to assure them that we are with them in this painful moment”. In the same vein, Rt. Hon. Mwansat further calls on the government to ensure that all hands are put on deck to more effectively address this challenge once and for all. “The government must be seen to be proactive and determined to once and for all address this challenge because the people have suffered enough. We must all be willing to make sacrifices, engage in dialogue and support all efforts geared towards finding lasting peace and succor in our dear state. Furthermore, Mwansat calls for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators and sponsors to serve as a deterrent to other criminally-minded elements who are bent on causing troubles in the state and country at large.
