Rotsu village attacked, entire village razed down

ViewPointNigeria reports of the 7th attack of the last 7 days.

The attack happened in Rotsu village, which is only a couple of kilometres from Nkiedonwhro where 27 people were killed yesterday. On this occasion, the clandestine attack only saw minimal casualties – because most to the villagers had fled (seeing what had happened to neighbouring villages). As such, even though the entire village was razed down (causing millions of Naira of damage), the amount of human casualty was low.

At the time of filing in this report, soldiers had again been drafted to the area.

ViewPointNigeria is collating pictures and interviews of the attack and will publish later.

ViewPointNigeria Analysis

All the villages which have been attacks in the past 7 days are within a 9km perimeter of each other. Jebbu-Miango to Nkiedonwhro, Rotsu and Taagbe villages are only a couple of kilometers apart. Meaning the murderous gang which is operating unfettered actually lives and resides in the area. For the gang to be so effective, moving from village to village killing and maiming – it must mean that it abodes within the communities.

So it is surprising that with the capabilities of SSS and sophisticated military-ware, the military is still unable to identify and squash the cell. Bear in mind, all these villages are also only a few kilometres from the largest military garrison of the entire Middle-belt area (i.e., the 3rd Armoured Division).

At the time of filing this report, all schools within the area had been closed and normal activities disrupted. The Kent academy boarding school in Miango was  said to have since closed down and all children and wards dropped off with their nearest guardians. Markets have also ceased to open with many venturing far into Jos North for purchases.
