Robbers kill 1 person in Plateau village

One person has been confirmed killed and two others injured when suspected armed robbers on Sunday night attacked a village in Plateau state.

Anguwan Hakimi village, a remote community is a few kilometres ahead of GyanGyang village in Gagdi district where in September, gunmen attacked and killed the 70 year old acting village Head, Mohammed Suleiman.

The Plateau State Police command yesterday said a team of detectives have visited the scene and recovered two empty shells of 7.62mm ammunition.

Its spokesman, ASP Tyopev Terna said the incident was reported on Monday at about 6am by one Alh. Garba Abdullahi of Anguwan Hakimi village.

He said, Abdullahi reported that at about “2am a gang of robbers numbering about seven had attacked one Alh. Garba Mohammed, 50 and Alh. Habibu Mohammed 36 and Adamu Musa, 17 of Hakimi village and made away with their money, amount unknown. One of the victim, Adamu Musa was shot severally and was rushed to the General Hospital, Dengi in Kanam for treatment but could not survive.”

A resident of the village, Alhaji Ibrahim Sale told our correspondent that the attackers were searching for one Alhaji Umar who owns a provision store.

Sale explained that the robbers had met Umar’s nephew, Musa in the shop and shot him dead. “Musa’s father, a former deputy Chairman of Road Transport Workers and another person were struck with a matchete and are presently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Bauchi,” he said.

He further said, “two years ago, a similar incident happened in the community when suspected armed robbers attacked the house of the then elected Chairman of Kanam and killed members of his family.”
