Reps Speaker SA on Youths Sensitize over 200 Secondary school students against drug abuse in Zaria

Special Assistant on Youth Matters office of the Speaker House of Representatives Hon. Lamir Umar has organised a Sensitization campaign against over 200 Secondary schools students from Various schools in Zaria, Kaduna State on Drug Abuse.

Umar while Speaking during the sensitization held at Alhudahuda College Zaria with Various secondary school students across the Zaria LGA, said the program is one of the areas of intervention by the office of the speaker towards community and youth development.

He noted that the issue of drug abuse and addiction knows no age limit.

According to him, Illicit drug addiction has deeply permeated Nigerian society so much so that young people 15 years old and below are now heavy narcotic drug users, which will ruin the youths whom we call the leaders of tomorrow and consequently put the future of this great nation in jeopardy.

Hon. Umar indicated that his office will continue to come up with such initiatives that will add value to different communities around the country in fulfilment of the desire of the Hon Speaker to touch the lives of the people of the country not only through quality legislation but quality intervention as well.

The SA warn the students, especially youths alike, to shun drug abuse in order not to jeopardise their future and bring shame to their families.

He advised the participating students to embrace the message of having a drug-free society and to remain worthy ambassadors of Nigeria.

The Special Adviser to Kaduna State Governor on narcotic and substance abuse Alh Umar Baba Bambale also emphasized the need to educate young people on the effects of drugs and commended the SA of the Speaker for organising the program.

Other dignitaries who attended the event Emir of Zazzau His Royal Highness Alh Nuhu Bamalli represented by Alh Isma’iil Ahmed Wakilin Asibitin Zazzau who applauds the effort of the speaker for organising such an important event,

Also, NDLEA officials and religious leaders amongst others attended the event and appreciated the Speaker and his Special Assistant on Youths Hon Lamir Umar Ibrahim for such a laudable initiative which will go a long way in improving the quality of life of the young people.
