The lawmaker representing Gwer/East  Gwer/West federal constituency of Benue state in the House of Representatives, Mr. Mark Terseer Gbilah has called for the creation of a middle-belt development commission that would take care of victims of herdsmen attacks.
Mr. Gbillah said the middlebelt should not relent in the call  for creation of the commission because of its importance to the people of the region who have suffered so much losses as a result of the herdsmen attacks on Benue and other states that have left a lot of people stranded and devastated.
Speaking to newsmen after plenary on Wednesday, the member noted that the federal government has setup several agency to address the consequences of the restiveness and terrorists activities in the country such the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Victim Support Fund (VSF), and the proposed North-East Development Commission.
According to him, “it is time our people in the middle-belt start canvassing for middle-belt development commission.
“Our people need to rise up and begin to pursue the creation of this agency. it is something that we would not relent to lift up our voices”, he said
Earlier, Mr. Gbillah had moved a motion on the floor of the House asking the federal government to intervene in the incessant killing, destruction of property and displacement of communities by rampaging herdsmen.
