The Plateau State Local Government Football Association Chairmen, has nullified the re-election of Mr. Sunday Longbap as the PFA Chairman of
the State, describing his re-election as a subversion and negation of the Football Association statutes 2010.
Briefing journalists at the PFA secretariat in Jos, Wednesday, Chairman of Shendam FA, Dennis Sangyen, who spoke on behalf of the 9 FA
Chairmen present said, “We see these acts as a complete subversion and negation of the FA Statutes 2010 which makes the 17 Local Government
Chairmen and 5 stakeholders authomatic delegates in any FA election.
Sangyen recalled that the Plateau State Football Association Congress and stakeholders had on the 8th, August, 2014, passed a vote of no
confidence on Mr. Longbap, adding that the NFF was communicated, and it acknowledged to have received the decision of the congress via a letter
dated 13th, August, 2014.
“The impeached Chairman, Mr. Sunday Longbap acting alone, constituted the Electoral Committee, the Appeal Committee as well as the 24 man
list of delegates instead of 22 into the State FA election. The group lamented.
“Surprisingly, Mr. Longbap in a brazen display of power and perpetuation of illegality geared towards getting re-elected at all cost, substituted 9
Local Government FA Chairmen and replaced them with persons known to him only as those impersonators are neither Deputy FA Chairmen of
their respective LGAs nor stakeholders.
The list of LG FA Chairmen substituted are Shendam, Bassa, Mangu, Mikang, Jos South, Jos East, Kanke, Barkin Ladi and Wase LGAs.
In view of the foregoing, “We therefore wish to state categorically clear that any election purportedly conducted by Sunday Longbap led electoral
committee to elect officials of the Plateau State Football Association is null and void for you cannot place something on nothing and expect it to
stand.
The FA Chairmen urged the Nigerian Football Association not to honour any purported election emanating from the State and called on the public
and sport enthusiast to disregard any purported election, saying fresh election will soon be conducted.
It would be recalled that the embattled Chairman of Plateau Football Association, Mr. Sunday Longbap was re-elected as Chairman of the Football
Association last week.
