Information available to ViewPointNigeria indicates that elections into EXCO positions of the Radio Television and Theatre Workers Union (RATTAWU) was concluded this evening (27th October 2016) at the premises of the PRTVC at Joseph Gomwalk road Jos.

Comrade Yakubu Dung emerged President, having scored 80 votes against the runner up, Mr. John Dayong who garnered 51 votes. The executive secretary contest, saw Muknaan Jibrin emerge winner with 53 votes, to beat other contestants Pam Doel (with 46 votes) and Nehemiah James (with 29).

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected president, Comrade Yakubu Dung extolled the vision, commitment and loyalty of RATTAWU members – saying he was greatly humbled and elated to be elected president. He said the RATTAWU Platform is the only mediums capable of representing the interest of all its members in difficult times of welfare, action or needs.

Speaking further, he promised to work towards stimulating a deeper sense of commitment, belonging and pride among RATTAWU members, saying “only when we put all hands on deck are we able to achieve our most treasured goals”.

With regards staff welfare, Dung promised to champion the cause of all members by standing up to defend and/or review working hours (where need be), so as to guarantee improved standards of living for all members.

In the aspect of staff training, he said continuous professional development and evaluation of training have to be sacrosant, so that staff can continuously upgrade their knowledge and understanding – so as to perform at the highest levels.
