As the Independent National Electoral Commission in Plateau State concludes arrangement to conduct the bye-election into the Qua’an Pan North Constituency of the state House of Assembly, the All Progressives Congress has said it is confident it will humiliate the Peoples Democratic Party in the polls.

The bye-election, which is scheduled for November 28, 2015, is as a result of the demise of Hon. Godfrey Dashe, who was elected on the platform of the PDP in the April 2015 general elections. Dashe died one month after his inauguration, triggering the imminent by-election

Having declared the seat vacant, INEC has set aside November 28 for the bye-election, which it says it shall conducted in strict compliance with the laws governing elections in the country -essentially meaning that Permanent Voter Cards and Card Reader Machines will be employed.

INEC said for the contest, only the PDP and APC have fielded candidates.

According to the INEC Deputy Director and Head of Department of Voters’ Education and Publicity, Osaratin Emahirebo, the third party, which had earlier contested, Mega Progressive Party Party, failed to provide a candidate for the bye-election.

As part of APC’s strategy to win the race, the Deputy Governor of Plateau State, the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly and the Transition Committees chairmen in the 17 local government areas of the state have joined forces with the leadership of the APC, headed by Governor Simon Lalong, and the party Chairman, Lateb Daban, at a grand rally in Baap in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area to canvass support for the APC flag bearer in the election, Hon. Eric P. Dakogol.

During the rally, the stakeholders called on eligible voters to come out em mass and vote for the APC candidate to effect change in the area.

Lalong, who was represented by his Deputy, Prof. Sonni Tyoden, urged the people of Qua’an Pan North area to join the change that is already on ground at the national and state levels.

According to the Governor: “The APC is the party that hinges its principle of justice and therefore should be supported by all for the development of the state.”

Dakogol, the APC flag bearer, said this would be his third time in going into a similar contest, stressing that he is confident that he will excel this time around.

He promised that if he succeeds, he will rally the local and state governments for the transformation of his constituents.
