The Chairman of the Plateau youth council, the larger house, Chief Michael Maqual Kuba has reiterated that the larger house following the tradition of zoning as part of its political tradition had zoned the state chair position to Bassa LGA. Chief Maqual says this on Thursday the 8th of July, 2021 at the Azi Nyako youth Centre Dadin Kowa Jos.
Viewpoint Nigeria’s citizen reporter Seeks to sample the opinion of the aspirant’s or their close associates on the pronouncement. While speaking to one of the aspirants, Ishaya Harry, from Jos North, on the pronouncement and the zoning, Harry claimed that “stakeholders of the zone sat and agreed that all can contest and that he is not aware of any particular arrangement favouring Bassa LGA.” in like manner a close associate of J.K Chris who pleaded for anonymity accused the Northern stakeholders of favouring a Candidate hence their choice of Bassa LGA “

The Chairman of the Larger House also reiterate that while the Larger House will stand on the zoning every plateau youth is qualified to legally contest again, the Chair was quick to call wisdom and caution to those contesting against the principle of the zoning.
Recall that, The Plateau Youth Council have earlier suspended the conduct of the election of youth council indefinitely until further notice or after the determination of the suit filed by 14 aggrieved members. This is based on an order in a case between Hon Ramejo Ramnan and 14 others (Plaintiffs) and Plateau State Government, Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Ministry of Youth & Sports Development, and Ignatius Damar (as of 1st 2nd and 3rd Defendants respectively).
The Plaintiffs had approached the court on Monday 3rd November 2020 and obtained its order restraining the 1st-3rd Defendants/Respondents, their agents, privies, and representatives from inaugurating the 4th Defendant/ Respondent as the electoral committee chairman of the Plateau State Youth Council for not being a youth and a registered member of the Plateau State Youth Council as well as an order restraining the 4th Defendant from submitting himself to the 1st – 3rd Defendants to be sworn in as the chairman electoral committee of the Plateau state Youth Council knowing well that he is neither a youth nor a registered member of the Plateau State Youth Council pending the determination of the main issue.
While many celebrate the consent judgement that allows for the elections which are ending on Saturday with the state chair elections many will continue to ask what happened to others that respect the principle of zoning? And who will emerge despite the brouhaha?
