PWAJOK, PLATEAU STATE LABOUR PARTY DEPUTY GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE HONOURS “CATHOLICS IN POLITICS”

Hon Edward Gyang Pwajok SAN KSG LB, the Plateau State Labour Party Deputy Governorship Candidate has honoured the invitation of the Catholic Action Nigeria, in collaboration with Catholics In Political & Plateau Arise who organized an interactive session with all the Gubernatorial Candidates in Plateau State on the 17th Dec. 2022 at the Conference Hall, Sacred Heart Pastoral Center Jos.

In a release by the Dakum/Pwajok Media Ambassadors, the Interactive Session was approved by His Grace, Most Rev Dr Matthew Ishaya Audu, the Catholic Arch Bishop of Jos.
The aim of the interaction according to the organizers is to avail members of the Archdiocese the opportunity to closely & freely interact with the Gubernatorial Candidates with the hope of making the church have informed opinion as to the 2023 Governorship election in Plateau State and who to vote.

The organizers did well by having the following qualitative individuals who served as the panelists during the session.
(1)Prof Patricia Lar. Uni Jos.
(2)Dr Jimam Lar. HOD, History & International Studies, Uni Jos.
(3)Dr Ponsah Saleh. Uni Jos
(4)Mr Paul Bot. President, Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria CYON, Jos Archdiocese.
(5)Ngo Evelyn Dung Dantah. President, Catholic Women Organization CWO. Jos Archdiocese.
(6)Sir Simon Abah. President, Laity Council of Nigeria.
(7)Mrs Florence Uweze. LEADER, Market Women Association, Jos South LGA.
The above mentioned persons did Justice to the parley by raising fundamental questions.
The questions mostly centered on Education, Economy, Security & the Church as well as other religious beliefs.

Fortunately, the Labour Party was the only party that honoured the invitation through its Deputy Governorship Candidate, H.E Hon Edward Gyang Pwajok SAN LB KSG.
H.E Pwajok brought to bare his knowledge & experiences in his long years of service as Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice Plateau State & also his service as a National legislator of international repute.

The audience & panelist were astonished but not surprised as to the knowledge & capacity the Deputy Governorship candidate of the LP displayed.

Sir Simon Abah, Ngo Evelyn Dung Dantah & Mr Paul Bot all registered their unreserved disappointment & dismay for the flagrant disrespect shown to the Catholic church by the other political parties who did not honour the invitation despite proper notice.

In the case of the PDP, HE Barr Caleb Mutfwang wrote a withdrawal letter duly signed by himself on the exact day of the program which was the 17th Dec. 2022. He said he was not notified earlier but the person who brought Barr Mutfwang’s letter, was shown an endorsed & return copy, served to them, 10 clear days to the date of the program.

The Arch Bishop was represented by the Chancellor of the Archdiocese, Very Rev Fr Daniel Gyang who said, the Catholic church has not chosen or adopted any candidate but hope that through the interactive session, members of the church will be guided as to who to vote for but he went further to advise that the choice should be base on COMPETENCE, CREDIBILITY, CAPACITY & TRACK RECORD of the candidates.

Finally, in line with his humble disposition, we thank H.E Edward Gyang Pwajok SAN for instructing us earlier not to publicize what transpired during the program because of its sensitivity, however, we thank the organizers of the program for granting us permission to put down the story.
