Information available to ViewPointNigeria indicates that the counsel representing Plateau Radio Television Cooperation (PRTV) staff has asked the National Industrial Court in Jos to freeze the accounts of Plateau State Government as they have failed to pay salaries to 100 PRTV workers for about four and a half years.
In a tender exclusively shared with ViewPointNigeria, the counsel said that PRTV staff had sued the Plateau State Government over failure to pay them their salaries as represented in suit no NICN/Jos/53/2014 and suit NICN/Jos/28/2016. The counsel said the overdue payment had accumulated to N500 million.
One of the Staff, Mr. Gideon Ngwen told the Court on Thursday that an out-of-court settlement in which the government agreed to pay the staff the sum of N170 million failed, he said he was filing the motion to freeze the accounts of the State Government, so that they will understand the difficulties the staff is facing.
He said “The insincerity and inconsistency of Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Plateau State, Jonathan Mayiwau representing the government is frustrating the out-of- court settlement,” he asked the court to grant the injunction the workers were seeking.
The judge of the National Industrial Court R. H. Gwandu adjourned the case for hearing and ruling to 16th and 29th November 2016 respectively.
