CITATION – DASER DAVID
Daser David is an Indigene of Pankshin Local Government, mupun by tribe
from the royal family of Kagu. He is a graduate of Biochemistry from the
prestigious University of Jos. Daser became a software technology enthusiast
in the time when internet access was becoming ubiquitous with innovations
such as web 2.0 which is to give rise to the digital world phenomenon,
blurring the boundaries between online world and physical world. During his
university undergraduate era, He tutored computer science courses in
university of Jos to students of varying fields.
After his University degree in 2009, Daser grew from just a computer hobbyist
into an entrepreneur which guided him into co-founding a tech company in an
attempt to help organizations, government and businesses solve their most
difficult technical challenges. This saw him consult for several multinational
companies as well as help the Nigeria Police Force solve their Vehicle return
systems in 2010 at the force headquarters, the technology they use till date.
He later became the national IT consultant to the Nigeria Air Force at the
defence headquarters for three years where he helped built several
technologies for the smooth running of some military operations.
As a result of the massive unemployment raging the continent, Daser has
been helping in the development of Africa’s tech ecosystems through several
mediums. He consulted for Enspire incubation under the auspices of the
Abuja Technology Village to help create a vibrant tech ecosystem in the FCT
in 2014 which gave birth to “Hive”, a tech platform empowering and
mentoring youths into becoming the next generation software engineers. In
late 2014, Hive was extended to Plateau State which led to the launch of
“HackJos” the first technology hackathon in northern Nigeria. Hackjos
became an highlight in the first quarter of 2015 in the Nigerian tech space
bringing together young techpreneurs and software developers from 5 states
to compete in Jos. The year 2018 recorded the 4th edition, HackJos
witnessed a massive turnout as well as support and recognition from the
Industrial Training Funds (ITF), National Communication Commission (NCC)
and lots of software development companies in Abuja and Lagos to rank the
leading hackathon in Northern Nigeria.
