The police in Lagos have said that investigation is still on-going at the site of the explosion that rocked the Festac link road in Lagos. The blast which was alleged to emanate from a car under the bridge at Amuwo Odofin exploded at noon and killed one person while injuring another. People around later identified the deceased as Pius Oladele popularly known as Apase who is the chairman of the Association of Sand Dredgers under the bridge.
Police spokesperson in Lagos Deputy Superintendent Ngozi Briade said investigation was still on and it will be early to make speculations. Briade said that it was unlikely connected to Boko Haram from preliminary investigation conducted. She said that the anti-terrorism squad was on ground and that the Police area commander of E division, Dan Okoro was at the scene to access the situation.

Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, Ayo Adewale was at the scene and advised people to allow the security agencies to do a thorough investigation. The security operatives made up of the Police, State Security Services (SSS) Nigeria Navy and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) cordoned off the blast scene and were seen investigating as at evening time.
The Lagos State Police Commissioner, Umar Manko while addressing the Press in the evening reiterated that investigation was still on and that the blast was not a bomb explosion but as a result of an electric fault leading to a loud sound. He also said that the injured man who is currently receiving treatment in hospital is a Police Inspector called Akin Sunday .
