The long arm of the law has caught up with two notorious gang members allegedly responsible for the disturbance in Jos, a forthnight ago, which witnessed the killing of two residents.
The two suspects were arrested by men of the Special Military Task Force code-named ‘Operation Save Haven’ and according Matthias Tyopev, the spokesperson for Plateau State Police Command, no less than 488 police officers had been deployed to flash points in the city of Jos to forestall any unrest.
During the parade of the arrested suspects and 15 other nabbed bandits, the state PPRO said; “We have deployed 488 police officers to all the flashpoints in Jos metropolis. Some of them are in Yam-tyre, Dilimi, Bukuru Park, Chobe Junction, Bauchi Road, Filin Sukuwa (opposite the University of Jos). Others are in Angwan-Rogo, Nasarawa Gwom, Terminus, Zaria Road and Katako.
Tyopev also revealed during the parade that the 15 suspects were arrested between August and September in connection with various criminal activities within Plateau State.
He also sounded a note of warning to criminals an other bandits who would want to foment trouble during the 57th independence anniversary on Sunday, October 1 to rethink whatever plans they have as no one would be spared if there is an outbreak of fresh trouble.
