While presenting gift items to inmates of the Jos prison and some disabled persons at the city’s central mosque, the commissioner of water resources Mallam Idi Waziri said the Plateau state government had spent more than N42 million to purchase some items, which were distributed to the Muslim community as Eid-el-Kabir gifts.

The commissioner said the donation to the Muslim faithful was a clear indication that the Jang administration has the interest of all Muslims in Plateau State at heart. Mallam Waziri also said the donation was part of the governor’s kind gestures to the Muslims in the state, as is done during every festive period. He also said that the Governor insisted that the distribution of the gift items should focused on the less privileged and the vulnerable in the society.

Waziri said the State recently sponsored over 400 people in the state to Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj at a cost of N300 million. Two hundred of the four hundred people were however sponsored by various local governments while the rest were sponsored by the State government. The items distributed today included 500 rams and 1,000 bags of foreign rice.
