Plateau state governor, Simon Lalong, has set in place modalities to probe the immediate past governor of the state, Senator Jonah Jang over allegations of treasury looting during his tenure.

Lalong’s media aide, Emmanuel Nanle told journalist today that with a cabinet in place, the administration will set in place motion to take the probe of his predecessor to the next level, although he did not state the modalities.

“An action will certainly be adopted on the next phase of the probe,” Nanle said, explaining that “with a State Executive Council (SEC) composed because of the appointment and inauguration of a cabinet, the administration will set the motion for the probe of treasury looters to recover the funds.”

Nanle earlier acknowledged that the absence of a cabinet delayed the probe of Jang, who was accused of looting state funds, as well as “personalising governance.”

He assured that as soon a cabinet is composed, the reports of various committees which raised the allegations would be tabled for approval and necessary action taken.

“At the state of this new year,  definitely, there will be a follow up on those areas the committees recommended for further action,” Nanle said.

It would be recalled that the governor had earlier promised to go after treasury looters to recover stolen funds. Lalong stated this on October 28 when he received crowds of supporters who thronged the Government House in Jos, to celebrate his victory at the election tribunal.

Governor Lalong had vowed that he will go after looted funds as part of his promise to recover the state from backwardness.
